COMMUNITY STATEMENT & CALL FOR FEEDBACK
“Would You Travel to Jamaica to Help?”
Dear Jamaicans and Friends of Jamaica living in the UK,
In the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, many of us have been deeply moved by the devastation across our island home. Families have lost homes, livelihoods, and peace of mind.
We are now exploring a community-led initiative — calling on major airlines such as British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, and TUI Airways to offer Emergency Relief Fares (£500) to help Jamaicans in Britain travel home and assist loved ones directly.
Before this appeal is formally presented, we want to hear from you — the community:
- Would you take up this opportunity to travel home and lend a hand if these relief fares were available?
- Would you support this initiative — even by sharing, signing, or volunteering?
Your feedback and voices will help strengthen this call for action to airlines and UK decision-makers.
Together, we can show that the Jamaican spirit of “One Love” is more powerful than any storm. 💛🖤💚
